in conjunction with the Virginia Foxhound Club

Saturday May 23rd – 1:30 to 3pm

Morven Park, VA – PMD Ring

Mission

– To identify and describe the different breeds of foxhound and their physical characteristics

– To describe and analyze the conformation of different hounds

– To engage PDP students and the community of interested observers in the evaluation process

Overview

– Invited Hunts will represent a breed and have the option of 1 to 2 hounds to display. The Huntsman and/or Master will discuss, analyze, and present their own hound(s).

– Each Hunt is allowed 15 to 20 minutes to discuss their foxhound

– Casual, informal format. Each hunt will go separately with PDP students in the ring, followed by an up-close review where PDP students can also be in the ring for Q&A.

– All spectators must remain outside the ring.

Rough Timeline

1:25 to 1:30- Quick Intro

1:30 to 1:50 – American Hound/ Orange County

1:50 to 2:10 – Crossbred Hound/ Midland Foxhounds

2:10 to 2:30- English Hound/ Live Oak Hounds

2:30 to 2:50- PMD Hound/ Moore County Hounds

2:50 to 3:00- Closing/ Last minute Questions

-Times may fluctuate if a Hunt goes under their time but presenters should be mindful of the 20-minute cap time. Finishing on or around 3pm is the hard target. This will allow everyone time to go back to their accommodations and get ready for the evening dinner events.
